Obituary of Doris Mae Congleton

Doris Mae Congleton, age 87 of Linwood, PA passed away on October 8, 2023 at home. Born at the same home where she died, she was a lifelong resident of Linwood, PA, Upper Chichester. Doris was a financial clerk for Phoenix Steel for 23 years and continued her career for the next 33 years at the Delaware County Courthouse, retiring in 2021. In addition, she was proud to work at the Clover Department Store in Media. Doris graduated from Chichester High School, Class of 1954. She was an avid bowler in her younger years, and politically involved in the community. She was devoted to her faith and a former member of the Marcus Hook Baptist Church where she was the assistant treasurer and currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Ogden. She enjoyed summer vacations at Stone Harbor and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Grover and Sophia V. Reed Crumbacker, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, David W. Congleton who passed in 1966, son, David W. Congleton Jr. who passed in 2019 and 2 siblings, Katherine E. Dubhorn who passed in 2014 and Talbot R. Crumbacker who passed in 1992. She is survived by 2 sons, Gary (Melissa) Congleton, Steve (Jo Ann) Congleton, a daughter-in-law, Paula Congleton, 10 grandchildren, Melissa Kowal, Heather Congleton, Danielle (Tony) Munoz, Jess (Tom) Carrow, Steve (Kelsey) Congleton Jr., David Congleton, Tiffany Congleton, Gary Congleton, Jr., Marty Congleton & Charles (Madisson) Congleton and 9 great grandchildren, Harley, Isabella, David, Aubrey, Charles Jr., Callie, Cooper, Gabriella and Olivia. A visitation for Doris will be held on October 15, Sunday 6-8PM and Monday 9-10AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by funeral services at 10:00AM.
