Obituary of Phyllis Betz

Phyllis Lawrence Betz age 99 of Glen Mills, PA went home with her lord on October, 4, 2023 at Rose Court at Maris Grove. She was born and raised in Wooster, OH in 1924 to Phillip and Grace Rutt Lawrence. Phyllis resided in Glen Mills for 11 years, previously residing in Aldan, PA and Marmora, NJ, where she lived from 1995-2012.. She was a graduate of Wooster High School in 1942. Phyllis married Welker (Bill) Betz and they were married for 50 years before Bill passed away in 1992. Devoted to her faith, she was a member of Zion Lutheron Church in Wooster, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School for over 50 years, and with the help of her husband, they helped form The Chapel of the Good Shepard in Yeadon, PA. She was always involved with school and community, holding positions as President of Home and School, Girl Scout Troop Leader (Troop 96). She always said girl scouting was her life and she dealy loved those girls. Phyllis also worked in the lunch room at Aldan Elementary with her friend Edith, President of the Womens Club, leader of the womens club in Delaware County and a neighborhood chairmen. Phyllis also was involved in many musical organizations, such as the Moms Glee Club in Aldan, church choirs, teaching piano to students, and many other muscial organizations. In addition to her parents and her husband, Phyllis is preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Betz, 2 sons; Richard and Ronald Betz, and 3 sisters; Eva Lawrence, Eileen Rowland Jackson, and Wanda Kieffaber. She is survived by her daughter Carol Dunn (Judd), 2 grandsons, Jason Betz, and William Dunn, her great grandson, Trevor Betz, and many nieces and nephews. Services for Phyllis will remain private.
