Obituary of Barbara M. Creighton

Barbara M. Creighton, age 94 of Glen Mills, PA passed away on September 12, 2023 at her residence. Born to Charles and Ruth Arnold Mertz in Northumberland, PA, she resided for the past 17 years in Glen Mills, PA, previously residing in Upper Providence, PA. She graduated from Bloomsburg University with a degree in Education. Barbara was an active member of Reformation Lutheran Church in Media, PA where she was a long time director of the nursery school and was responsible for starting the before and after school program, Stay and Play. She loved spending summers at their cottage at Lake Wallenpaupack. Throughout the years, she bowled, played piano, golf, tennis, paddle tennis, and a short stint with pickleball. She enjoyed entertaining for friends and family and barely missed a game played by her grandchildren, whom she adored. She sang in the church choir and the choir at Maris Grove for many years. Barbara also volunteered often at church and at Maris Grove and seemed unable to say no. In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Barbara Mertz. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Gray D. Creighton, children; Edward Creighton, Barbara Ann Biedekapp (Thomas), David Creighton, Marcie Burns (John), Patricia Campbell (David), 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, special nieces and extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Reformation Lutheran Church, 102 Rose Tree Rd, Media, PA. Interment will be at a later date.
