Obituary of Julia K. Samuels

Julia K. Samuels, age 85, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on June 5th, 2023 at Simpson Meadows Nursing Home, under the light of a beautiful day and with family by her side.

Born to Basil and Lola Sumner in Rising Sun, MD, Julia has lived in Wilmington, DE for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, Julia is preceded in death by her husband, Gary A. Samuels, who passed in 2016; sisters, Marjorie Herr, Audrey Schurr, Irene Martin, Dixie Balbi, and Betty Eshelman, and brothers, Bob, Willard, and Howard. She is survived by her sons, Steven (Colleen) Samuels, and Jeffrey (Mike Pritchett) Holmes, sister, Susie (Robert) Lawson, grandsons, Chandler and Austin, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Julia worked for many years as a secretary for Dupont and later for Hercules. She enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was gardening, smelling the flowers, walking, or bird watching. Julia also loved to travel and spend time with her grandsons. She loved cooking and hosting dinners and cookouts at her home, often making gourmet dishes that family and friends still rave about today. She also loved music and was quite the dancer.

A visitation for Julia will take place on Friday, June 16th, 2023 from 10-11AM at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a funeral service at 11AM. Interment will be private. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.paganofuneralhome.com.
