George H. Lewis, Jr. age 100, of Linwood, PA passed away on May 9, 2023, at Naaman's Creek Country Manor in Garnet Valley, PA. George was born to the late George H. and Sisel Thomas Lewis in Marcus Hook, PA. George lived in Linwood, PA all his life and recently celebrated his 100th birthday. George proudly served in the United States Army during WWII with the 207th Combat Engineers and received two Purple Hearts during the five major campaigns in Europe. George was known for his love of his country. He was active with the American Legion in Marcus Hook where he once served as Commander. He and his wife Evelyn enjoyed running Casino Bus Trips for over 20 years. George was employed for many years by Houdry/Air Products, a division of Sun Oil Company. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, George H. Lewis III and five siblings, Thomas & John Lewis, Sisel Whitby, Anne Warrington & Florence Rittenhouse.
George is survived by his loving wife of 80 years, Evelyn Clements Lewis, 2 daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Charnock and husband Lewis & Linda Fernandez and husband Manuel, 6 Grandchildren, Bryan, Julie, Jason, Katie, Robin & Andy, as well as 8 Great Grandchildren, Alyssa, Sam, Maggie, Caroline, Michael, Matthew, Kyle, Jessica, Sofie and another Great Granddaughter, Sallie, due in September. The service and interment will be private.
