Obituary of John F. Dever

John F. "Jack" Dever, age 90 of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away April 17, 2023 at his home. Born to JohnFrancis and Julia Spellane Dever in Philadelphia, PA, Jack has been a resident of Garnet Valley for the pasteight years, previously residing in Briarcliff for over 50 years.He was graduated from West Catholic High School for Boys, Class of 1951, and remained an active alumnus. He served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Jack worked in customer service for Trans World Airlines and retired after 38 years. He then went on to workas a bailiff for the Delaware County Courthouse. Devoted to his Catholic faith, Jack was an active parishioner of the Church of the Holy Child and was a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree.

Jack liked bowling, and playing cards with his friends at Belmont. He enjoyed his trips to Ocean City, NJ, and loved listening to Irish music. He was an avid Philadelphia professional sports teams' fan, especially the Eagles. He often talked about attending the 1960 championship game. Jack will be remembered, and missed, for his great sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Catherine R. Dever (nee Fitzpatrick) and sister, Dolores Kuberski. He is survived by his four children, Catherine (Steven) Luongo, John (Mary Beth) Dever, Barbara (John) Hoy, and Timothy (Nicole) Dever, eleven grandchildren, Patrick (Kathryn), Colleen (Thomas), Sean, Bridget, Jessica, Daniel, Olivia, Kayla, Lauren, Kara, and Joseph, two great grandchildren, Daniel and Erin, and his sister, Judith Wood.

A visitation will be held on Monday April 24th from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Interment will be at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. Donations in Jack's memory may be made to CURE Childhood Cancer (curechildhoodcancer.org ).
