Obituary of Ethna O'Connor

Ethna O'Connor, age 91, died peacefully in her sleep on February 26, 2023 at her residence in Maris Grove, Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. Ethna was born on May 18, 1931 in Cork, Ireland to Josephine and Edmond O'Connor. In 1956, she immigrated to America as a young adult, and later sponsored her mother to immigrate to America. Ethna lived with and supported her mother Josephine O'Connor for many years in her home in Wilmington, Delaware. She was a nurse, and particularly enjoyed serving as a pediatric and neonatal nurse during her career. Ethna had a lifelong love of dogs and almost always had one, big or small, by her side. She was talented at both knitting and gardening, with a special love for a hand-knit blanket or a home-grown tomato. She found great joy in the gardens and flower pots that she tended at her retirement community. She loved to travel, to keep current on politics and the news, and to read books ranging from mysteries to history to Harry Potter. Ethna is survived by a sister-in-law, Rose O'Connor, and many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her feisty spirit and her complete devotion to her mother, as well as her pets.
