Obituary of Kathleen A. Chudnofsky

Kathleen A. Chudnofsky, age 81, of Linwood, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at her son's home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Philadelphia, she was the oldest child of Hugh and Mary Hennegan McCann. Kathy attended West Catholic High School and was a graduate of Ursuline Academy. After graduation she worked in her father’s delicatessen where she met Harold Chudnofsky whom she married on February 11, 1961. She continued to work in the food service industry, most notably at the Spinning Wheel Inn, in Wilmington, DE. and for Dairy Queen in Stanton, DE. A resident of Linwood for 48 years, she served her community in numerous capacities most notably as a crossing guard with Lower Chichester Township for the last 28 years.


Kathleen was a former parishioner at Holy Saviour Catholic Church and currently Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Claymont, DE. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and crafting. Kathleen also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters, Christa and Kaitlyn. The oldest of nine children, she was not only a devoted daughter, but a loving sister
who always looked out for her siblings. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. Chudnofsky who died in 2009, and three siblings, Hugh McCann, Laurence McCann, and Regina Kotowski. She is survived by her son, George (Julie) Chudnofsky, two granddaughters, Christa Dabkowski and Kaitlyn Chudnofsky; five siblings, Terence McCann, Patrick (Kathy) McCann, Kevin (Judy) McCann, Daniel McCann, Marie (Mike) Graney, and numerous nieces and nephews.


Visitation will be held Saturday, February 4th , 9:30AM to 10:45AM at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont DE followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM. Interment will be held Wednesday, February 8th , 11:00AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA. Memorial contributions in Kathleen's honor may be made to Holy Rosary Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont DE 19703 or to the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road., Garnet Valley, PA 19060 to help offset funeral expenses.
