Larry., When I saw you down the shore with Kathy when selling home on Farragut and shared with me your diagnosis, I was hoping this day would not come but I knew it was not promising like when my wife was diagnosed with leukemia, I just wanted to treasure our time together, I was so happy I got to tell you about my award from Ridley Township Old timers last month because you had so much to do with it. I just wish you could have attended as I did when you were inducted. Even though you were 2 years in, when you talked me into leaving Interboro and helping you with Roughriders bribing me with free sodas when you bartended at Milmont , You always credited me to helping us establish a strong ICWL program. . Only a few hours a week Coop. Larry and I were regulars late nights with coffee at Wawa, Discussing strategy. Going to high school matches, Running practices. Talking to parents, Driving all over to tournaments. Those few hours were a November to April thing for over 12 years but the time Larry and I spent, . I will never forget. and every moment was worth it. He taught me not only to be a good coach but a good person. and parent. I know he was so happy for me seeing Jimmy and Emily play sports for Ridley and then in college and be team captains because he knew how much that meant to me after my wife Kathys passing. Watching Mark and Kevin grow up and attending their weddings as well as watching Ridley games with him and his bother Freddy,
I will miss.. .Rowlsie and I coached many good wrestlers but what I am so proud of is the many kids and parents who come up to me and say what good coaches and people we were. I laugh and say, it was Larry.. not Coop. Larry, I know Freddy will say I am crazy, but I hope the Eagles go 20 and 0 and win the Super Bowl so you, your Dad and my wife Kathy can celebrate in Kathys skybox in heaven. And as I always ended our conversations during your illness, I love you. Man. I am going to miss you.. Jim Cooper or to you Coop

My condolences to Larry’s family and friends. I hope your grief will pass quickly and be replaced by the happy memories of the generous, fun loving and caring person that Larry was.
I first met Larry at the opening of Ridley wrestling practices in the Fall of 1971. I was a sophomore and Larry a senior. He was a legend by then. I was one weight class below him and so I got a lot of practice time with him. I was very intimidated. As hard as I tried, I never made a successful wrestling move on him, expect for the occasional Saturday morning practice. I knew better than to take advantage else there would be hell to pay on Monday.
He would always take the time to tell and show me what I could do better, but he would never let me get something I didn’t earn. I respect him for that.
Larry made a significant contribution to my life. I would not have had the success I did at wrestling if not for him. Had I not had success in wrestling, I most likely wouldn’t have gone to college and ….
I will always be grateful to Larry. I can hear his infectious laugh now.
Again, my condolences to Larry’s family and friends.

Mr. Rowles was my neighbor growing up and my 1st wrestling coach. It was impossible to walk into his house without being put into wrestling hold and then instructed how to escape it. He was truly welcoming, fun, and I always felt at home in his house.
Lots of fond memories and gratitude for his positive contributions to life.

Larry was well known growing up on Carlisle Ave in Prospect Park to walk up the stairs doing his handstands. Avid fan of wrestling and an all around nice guy. Rest in peace Mr. Rowles.
