Obituary of Virginia F. Banks

Virginia Fellows Banks, age 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and faithful dog, Asher, on October 26th, 2022. Virginia "Ginny" Banks was born on July 6th, 1941, the youngest of Dr. Charles E. and Edith Sloan Fellows' three daughters. She was raised in Media, PA, and attended Linden Hill School prior to graduating from Nether Providence High School. As a girl, Ginny developed a love for the outdoors learning how to ride, swim, fish, and shoot archery at summer camp. Throughout her childhood, Minnie and Pop her friends enjoyed taking her fox hunting via the station wagon. At age 9 she was given her first horse and a lifelong love of raising and showing horses grew. At age 21 she married and raised five children in Unionville, PA. She taught each of them to ride horses and instilled in them an appreciation for the beauty of animals and the outdoors. Summers were spent teaching swim lessons to area children for the American Red Cross. In the spring and fall she could always be heard cheering on her kids at their numerous sports events. Her love for horses continued into her work, for 30 yrs. she was the Editor/Publisher of the Equine Marketer, a horse publication. Her eye for detail and generosity to the horse community enabled her to promote benefit horse shows, animal rescues and associations. Her love for Carousel's and Charter Ponies will be her legacy for life. West Chester provided Ginny with a perfect place to work and help take care of her grandchildren. She loved her grandchildren immensely and the pride she felt for their accomplishments was communicated in every conversation she had with friends and family. She was member of Covenant Fellowship Church and Brandywine Grace Church serving in The Bridge Course, Chester Homework Club, Nursing Home Ministries amongst others. Other hobbies included many crafts and gardening. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Charles E. and Edith Sloan Fellows, as well as her two sisters, Alice Keener and Betsy Biedling. She is survived by her five children; Cindy (Robert) Pizziketti, Charles (Denise) Gaebel, Heather (Tom) Myers, Trudi (Mark) Giuliani and Thomas (Jen) Gaebel, and 11 grandchildren; Mark, Katie, Josh, Jamie, Tyler, Maggie, Ali, Tim, Lizzie, Rachel and Lyndsey. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a service at 11:00 am. at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA.
