Obituary of Joel R. Smith

Joel "Chester Joel" R. Smith Sr., 77 of Aston, PA died on February 15, 2016 at home. Born in Birmingham, Al and raised in Chester, PA, he resided for the past 10 years in Aston, previously residing in Bethel Twp. Joel was an Employment Counselor at Elwyn Institute for 10 years retiring in 2004. He previously was the owner and operator of Trainer Appliance for 20 years. Joel graduated from Chester High School class of 1966 and The Dewey Mann School class of 1952. He enjoyed golfing, music, dancing, and chatting with his friends, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Barbara Miller Smith and is survived by his wife of 43 years Marianne Robinson Smith, 4 children, Deanna (Bill) Wentworth, Lynda (Dan) LaRubio, Joel Jr. (Amanda) Smith and Rachel (Brad Kutney) Smith, 3 siblings, Walter Smith, Charles Smith and Barbara Walton, also 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service on Monday, 11:00AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA where friends may call from 10:00-11:00AM.
