Obituary of John F. Simmons

John F. "Slim" Simmons Jr., age 57 of Wilmington, DE went to be with God on November 6, 2016. Born & raised in Chester, Slim graduated from St. James Catholic High School, class of 1976. Slim and his wife, Sandy, started their family in Linwood, PA and have resided in Wilmington, DE for the past 14 years. Slim is a dedicated employee at Boeing and at the Dupont Country Club golf courses. He enjoyed going to both jobs each day and the countless friends he made at them. Slim is a member of the St. James Alumni Choir, the Holy Saviour Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree Knight, and Holy Rosary Church. He loved golfing and fishing especially with his two sons. He is known for his famous cooking, constant jokes and loving smirk. He loved cheering on the Eagles and the Phillies. Slim will be sadly missed by his family, friends and granddog, Abel. He is preceded in death by his Father, John Simmons, mother, Louise Gray Reynolds, a brother, Anthony R. Simmons, a niece/God daughter, Hope Palmatter and dog, Winnie. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandra A. Wright Simmons, 2 sons, Buddy (Aubrey) Simmons and Mark F. Simmons, 3 sisters, Patricia Salkowitz, Linda Harvey & Jeanne Bankes and numerous nieces & nephews. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, 6-8PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, PA and also on Friday morning, 9:00-10:15AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the St. James Alumni Association, 1499 E. 9th St., Eddystone, PA 19022.
