Obituary of Charlotte S. DeMetry

Charlotte Scott DeMetry, M.D., also known as "Scottie", left this life peacefully on September 7, 2022. She had just celebrated her 93 rd birthday and she was living in Pennsylvania near her daughter, Daphne, and her three granddaughters, Ava (21), Chara (19) and Annie (17). Dr. Charlotte, as many knew her, became a physician at a time when most women were discouraged from doing so. She had a successful pediatric practice in Oroville, CA, for forty years. She maintained a tradition of being ahead of her time when she created an alternative medicine practice at Oroville Hospital in 1995. She married Jim DeMetry in 1958 and they had three children, Chara, Peter, and Daphne. In August, 1984, Peter, Chara, Jim, and a dear friend, Ty Foley, perished in a plane crash. Scottie did her best to continue to live life well, but there is no full recovery from the loss of your children. Scottie loved to travel and there were only a few places in the world that she didn't have an adventure in. She will be remembered as a globetrotter who loved her life as a mother, GrandMom, pediatrician, and wonderful friend to so many. Scottie is survived by her daughter, three granddaughters, and Deniz Daldal who was like a son to her, especially after the loss of her own.
