She loved beating her grandchildren at Rummikub tournaments on rainy nights at her beach house.

Doris owned a small bookkeeping business for many years, keeping the books at Church of the Holy Child, St. Patrick's, and St. Paul's Catholic churches in Wilmington, and St. Joseph's on the Brandywine in Greenville, DE. Earlier, she worked at Archmere Academy in Claymont, DE, and Alexis I. duPont High School in Greenville.

Doris was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, John T. Haigh, who passed October 2, 2021, her father, John Conick, sisters; Joan Wise and Nancy Wills, brothers; Phillip Niedelman and Harry Jones, her aunt and uncle who raised her, Anna and Jack Curran, cousins, Anne Murphy and Jack Curran, and son-in-law, Michael P.
