Elmer Williams "Pete", age 82 of Garnet Valley, PA passed away on September 7, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Born to Frank O'Conner, Sr. and Doris Barrett in Philadelphia, PA, he resided the past 3 years in Garnet Valley, PA, previously residing in Chadds Ford and Glen Mills, PA. Pete was an agent for Avis Car Rental for 18 years retiring in 2020. Pete opened 2 variety stores; Williams Variety , Sharon Hill, PA and Pete’s Variety in West Philadelphia which he operated for many decades. In prior years Pete operated 3 Record Shops throughout Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of Ever Abundant Life Church in Darby, PA where he rededicated his life to Christ. Pete was an avid pinochle player at Foxfield Village and a “serious” card player throughout the Tri-State area. He was a member of Good Neighbor Senior Center in Sharon Hill, PA and also enjoyed going to the casino. Pete found great joy in visiting his old neighborhood bringing treats and specialty items to his beloved friends. Pete loved to have parties and entertain his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Elmer is preceded in death by his son, Elmer Williams Jr., who passed as an infant, his siblings; Doris Williams, Barbara Bennett, Ida Marshall, Frances Worthy, Frank O' Conner Jr., and his granddaughters Lindsay A. Johnson and Naomi Williams. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Gwendolyn J. Wood Williams, eldest Aunt, Annetta Dangerfiled, six children; Denise Williams, John (Rosalynn) Williams, Colette (Mountaga) Congleton-Jalloh, Stacey (Lyndon) Johnson, Jerel (Danielle) Williams, and Brittany Williams. Siblings: Geraldine Brooks, James (Linda) Williams, Sandra (Chris) Eskew. Grandchildren: Tyree, Gemma, Sayeeda, Tamara, Sterling, Treasure, Patrice, Alyssa, Leah, James, Naiya, Jerel Jr., Nayloni, Brandon, Malik, K’Cee, Jordan, and Great Grandchildren: Khaniyah, Mason, Major, Daniel, Christopher, Jeremiah, Emanuel, Khalil, Adonis, Izakai and Riley.
A life celebration will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 1:00- 4:00 PM at the Foxfield Village Clubhouse, 100 Clubhouse Circle, Garnet Valley, PA 19060.
