Obituary of John Greeley

John "Jack" Greeley passed away peacefully on August 28,2022 completing a long, healthy, and successful life of 100 years. He lived independently at his home until the last nine days of his life. Jack was born in Philadelphia, PA, raised in Audubon, NJ before moving to Essington, PA. He was a sergeant in the US Army during World War II, spending two years in the Southwest Pacific. After the war he became a member of the American Legion and moved, with his wife, Doris, to Ridley Park, PA, where he resided for 68 years. He worked for 43 years as a sheet metal mechanic at Westinghouse Manufacturing. Jack loved spending summers at his trailer in Pot-Nets, DE with his family - fishing, boating, enjoying the beach. He had many friends and would go out of his way to help anyone in need - family and friends alike. He was a humble man of faith and member of Saint Mark's Lutheran Church in Ridley Park for over 50 years, enjoying weekly services, fellowship, and many trips across the country with the "Over 50 Club." He was pre-deceased by his wife, Doris Warlow Greeley, his daughter Karen Ann Greeley, and his son, John Steven Greeley. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Michetti, cousins, George Cook and Richard Cook, daughter-in-law Ulrike Greeley, grandchildren; Christine Greeley, Matthew Greeley, Michelle Greeley, great granddaughter, Sophia, and his wonderful neighbor of 22 years, Lorraine Ranieri. A Lutheran burial service with military honors will be held at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA, on Wednesday, September 7 at 11:00AM. All are welcome.
