Obituary of Eleanor T. Lyster

Eleanor T. Lyster, age 88, of Chadds Ford, PA passed away on July 14, 2022 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born in Malvern, PA and lived most of her early life in Darby, PA. Eleanor graduated from Notre Dame High School in Moylan, Class of 1952. In the early 50's she worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, and was an avid dancer and ballroom instructor, frequently featured on a local Philadelphia dance program, the predecessor to American Bandstand. She married Lloyd Lyster in 1958 and they raised 8 children. Eleanor resided in the Maris Grove community for the past 3 years, previously residing in Chadds Ford, PA for 51 years and in Milmont Park, PA for 9 years. She was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service in Chadds Ford for 30 years, retiring in 2005. She has been a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church since 1968 and was a member of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees). She was also a member of the Sodality at BVM Catholic Church in Darby. Eleanor enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking many family recipes, music, dancing, spending time at the beach, watching the Phillies and being a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, Nicholas and Anna Santoro Acquarola, Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd W. Lyster who passed in 2001, 3 sons; Mark, Gregg, and Bruce Lyster, 7 siblings; Loretta Aceto, Nicholas Acquarola, Peter Acquarola, Frank Acquaroa, Lena Curtosi, Marie Woelfel, and Florence "Dolly" Tate. She is survived by 5 children; Karen (Roger) Clary, Guy (Terry) Lyster, Curt (Stacey) Lyster, Cheryl Lacinski, and Michele (Bill) Wilson, daughter in law, Cindy Lyster, 2 siblings; Gloria Carroll and Victor Acquarola, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Thursday July 21, 6-8PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA and Friday, July 22, 9:15-10:15AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford, PA followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM. Interment, Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org).
