Obituary of John R. McLaughlin

John R. McLaughlin, age 80 of Chester, PA, passed away on June 23, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Wallingford, PA. Born to James J. and Ellen Hancock McLaughlin in Chester, PA, John was a long-time resident of Chester with his permanent return to his birth place in 1981. Previously, he also resided in Colorado and Wyoming. John attended St. James High School for Boys in Chester, and worked as a bus driver for various touring companies including Klein Transportation of Douglassville. John also worked as a roadie/bus driver for country music singer, Michael Martin Murphey. John loved that his job took him all over the country, he enjoyed seeing all of the states, and developed a great love for country music. He loved sharing stories of his travels, and all of the places he had been. Accordingly, John had a large collection of road maps, he enjoyed listening to his CB Radio, playing card games with his family, and playing chess in his free-time. John also had a love for his dogs, Ellie, Casey, and Sundance. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James E. McLaughlin and William Abbot. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce Perry McLaughlin, children, John McLaughlin, Jr., Sean McLaughlin, Matthew McLaughlin, and Heather (Warren) Swartwood, brother, Charles P. (Natalina) McLaughlin, sister-in-law, Dorothy "Dottie" McLaughlin, and his grandchildren, Collin, Brenden, and Quinn. He is also survived by his dear brother-in-law and his wife, Howard and Nelda Perry, as well as several nieces and nephews. He left an impact on many and will be remembered.
