So sorry for your loss. Ted Fleck was one of a kind. I was fortunate enough to have been working at Garnet Valley when Ted started working there as our metal shop teacher and I was able to observe first hand the profound impact he had on so many of our students. Some of the words from former students posted on this site attest to the vital role he played in our school for many years. Every high school student needs a caring adult in the school to help them navigate the formative years of their life and Ted Fleck filled that role for so many of our students. He will be sorely missed but we are all better for having had him in our lives and for that we will be forever grateful. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to everyone in the family. I am very sorry for your loss. Mr. Fleck was one of the main reasons I got through high school. School wasn't always easy for me, but I always knew I could go down to wood/metal shop and spend some time with Mr. Fleck to get me through my day. He always understood me and was there for me in the good and bad times. I will never forget him tricking my class with his "ripping" the yellow pages with his bare hands trick or when he would pull me aside when I wasn't hanging out with the right kids and say "Tate, what are you doing hanging out with those knuckleheads!?". He was much more than just a shop teacher. Mr. Fleck was a role model and a teacher of life lessons. He made me a better person. He will truly be missed. To the family again I am very sorry for your loss.

My condolences to the family. I am so sorry to hear of Ted's passing. He was such a kind and understanding person as well as a great teacher and colleague. Ted had a passion for life and a special love for his family. As a fellow retiree, I know how much Ted was looking forward to spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. I hope you find strength in the times you have shared together. Ted left his mark on Garnet Valley and those he taught. May you hold dear the wonderful memories you have as a family.

I can’t believe that someone was so much light, humor, and compassion is gone from this world. Ted was such a delight to work with and he always had great life and educational advice. He was so proud of his family- his wife, his children, and his siblings. A natural storyteller with a delightful sense of humor, he kept me laughing and entertained every time we talked. I am so very sorry for your loss. Heather Arters

Teddy Fleck was one of a kind. His quiet compassionate demeanor carried a great power. When he spoke, everyone would listen because they knew the wisdom and insight he would bring. He is one of the key reasons I decided to become an industrial arts teacher myself for the past 20 years. He saw something special in me before I saw it by myself. While many people never take the time to complement or encourage, Ted Fleck never missed an opportunity to do so. He supported, encouraged and challenged me every day I was in his class. Being one of his students was means to being a better person. Watching him work is like an art; while his students were sculpting their projects, he was sculpting them to be the best version of themselves. I strive to be as good as a teacher as he was every day. I will miss him dearly but I will honor him through passing the lessons he taught me. God bless Teddy Fleck!

To Beth and family: My condolences on the loss of a great man. I fondly remember how kind he was under the gruff exterior and how much he loved and cared for his family. I am keeping you in prayer and thinking of you with love and peace. I can't imagine how difficult this journey has been for you, but Mr. Fleck left a wonderful legacy, and I hope that will give you some comfort in the days and weeks ahead.

Mr. Fleck was a mountain of a man in my life growing up. He was my shop teacher in high school, and he had no equal. He supported me in learning how I need to learn, and allowed my creativity to flourish in his classes. He tough me skills that I used to found my own company and provide for my family. He always had a kind word, and was passionate about what he was doing. He truly embodies what it meant to be an educator and will be missed by many.
