Obituary of Rose Maureen Arts

Rose Maureen Arts, 81, (nee Senatore) of Garnet Valley, PA, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016. Born in Newark, NJ, on October 8, 1935, and raised in Patterson, NJ, Maureen was the eldest child of John and Loretta (nee DiNapoli) Senatore. She married Paul A. Arts, MD, on April 21, 1957, at St. Phillip the Apostle Church in Clifton. She graduated from Paterson Eastside High School and then worked in various secretarial positions while her husband was in medical school. Maureen and Paul lived with her parents and had two children. After her husband went into private practice, Maureen devoted herself to motherhood, gourmet cooking, tennis and travel. She was also a member of the women's twig of the Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center. Later, the couple had two more children and once they were in college, she worked as a travel agent and in her husband's office until they both retired in 2003 and moved from Watchung, NJ, to Garnet Valley, PA, to be closer to her grandchildren. While in Garnet Valley, she volunteered at Riddle Memorial Hospital and Longwood Gardens. Remembered for her kindness, generosity, wit and compassion, she was an ever present and positive influence in both her children and grandchildren's lives and she had the ability to make each one of them feel as special and loved as the next. Maureen is survived by her husband Paul of 60 years, and her children Michael and his wife Susan of Racine, WI; Maureen Griffiths and her husband David of Glen Mills, PA; Megan Evans and her husband Jon of Odenton, MD; and Matthew of Philadelphia. She is also survived by her granddaughters who she loved so dearly and who adored her in return: Shannon Arts of Falls Church, VA; Madison and Mackenzie McKenna of Glen Mills, PA; and Finley and Ryan Evans of Odenton, MD and by her brother John and his wife Patricia of Lakewood, NJ, and her sister Lucrezia Housman of Crofton, MD. Relatives and friends are invited to Rose's Funeral Service on Thursday, October 13, 2PM, at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd, Garnet Valley, PA, where friends may call from 1-2PM. Burial will follow immediately to St. Thomas the Apostle Church Cemetery, Chester Heights, PA.
