Obituary of Elbert F. Childress
Elbert F. Childress, age 81 of Aston, PA, passed away on March 26, 2022 at home. Born to Lennie and Annie Bryant Childress in Elbert, WV, he was raised in McDowell County, WV, previously of Jenkinjones, WV, and he was a long-time resident of Aston, PA for over 57 years. Elbert worked for the Congoleum Corporation in Marcus Hook, PA as a forklift driver for over 49 years before retiring. In his free-time, Elbert was known to be an outdoorsman and avid hunter who enjoyed fishing and bow-hunting. Elbert had a love for country music, especially Dolly Parton. He was also a collector of Hess trucks, and a Philadelphia Eagles football fan. He was considered a "gentle giant" who loved spending time with his family and his granddaughter Cassy aka "Squirrel" was the apple of his eye. In addition to his parents, Elbert is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce, and his son, Matthew Childress. He is survived by his daughters, Gabrielle Childress and Debra Kozak, sister, Betty McCroskey, step-brother, Frank (Liz) Yates, step-sister, Sue Sybert, and granddaughter, Cassy Phillips. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31st from 5-6PM at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a memorial service at 6PM. Interment will remain private.
