Obituary of Donald F. Smith

Donald F. Smith, age 74 of Wilmington, DE passed away on January 26, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital. Born to the late Sylvester M. and Mary F. Carey Smith, in Chester, PA, Donald was a longtime resident of Wilmington, DE. He graduated from Brandywine High School, Class of 1966 and served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. Donald was a line worker at Chrysler Auto Plant in Newark, DE for 28 years and retired in 2008. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union, Local 1183. He was a cat lover, enjoyed watching Fox News, feeding birds and squirrels and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. Donald is survived by his wife, Alice Robinson Hypes Smith, 3 siblings; Wayne M. (Sandy) Smith of Newark, DE, Shirley (Pat) Ging of Port St. Lucia, FL and Diane (Joe) Conway of The Villages, FL, aunt, Jeannette (Edmond) Rumford, uncle, Robert Carey, 2 in-laws, Verna "Snookie" Dohman and Bruce W. Smiley, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 4, 10-11AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by a funeral service at 11AM. Interment, Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA. Donations in Donald's memory may be made to the animal shelter of the donor's choice.
