Obituary of Virginia Mary Massaro

Virginia "Ginny" M. Massaro, age 82, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on December 4, 2021. Born to James and Virginia Marley in Darby, PA, Virginia was raised in Chester, PA. She married Samuel Anthony Massaro, Jr. in 1958 and resided in Maine, California, and then Friendswood, Texas for fifty years. Virginia spent most of her career as an accountant, often working for contractors at NASA. Virginia retired from Hawker Beechcraft in 2008; There she mentored many younger women, taking them under her wing and nudging them on with her no nonsense approach. After retirement she enjoyed a special In Touch Ministries Alaskan cruise with her daughter, Deborah.

In her younger days, Virginia enjoyed dancing, especially doing the "Texas Two-Step" with her long-time boyfriend, Jack V. James. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her Texas Christmases were full of joy and all day Central Texas BBQ buffets for family and friends. Ginny also loved to visit Galveston Island, Moody Gardens, and to search for bluebonnets in the Spring.

After returning to the East Coast to live with her daughter in 2014, Virginia was referred to as "Mama Ginny" by her daughter's friends. Ginny often visited Winterthur and enjoyed taking the tram through the gardens, as well as visiting Longwood Gardens. She enjoyed participating in Bible studies and was well known for her gift of generosity and a kindness that sparkled. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the joy of knowing her, especially her daughter. In the last year of her life, Ginny fell in love with her daughter's kitten, Noah! He was a great comfort during her short illness. She loved living in her "Blue" house and found great peace and happiness there.

In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her beloved son, Samuel Anthony Massaro III, and the love of her life, Jack V. James, who both passed away in 2013; and her siblings Ronald Marley, Veronica Jones and Gerald Marley. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Massaro; her siblings James Marley (Dorothy), David Marley, and Paul Marley (Dolores); grandchildren, Samuel Massaro IV and Jennifer Barcelona; and four great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
