Obituary of Leonard Jacob Starkey
Leonard Jacob Starkey, age 86, of Glen Mills, PA. passed away on October 28th, 2021 at Rose Court at Maris Grove. Born to Thomas and Estella Watson Starkey in Chester, PA, he previously resided in Coatesville, PA and Downingtown, PA. for 15 years. Leonard served his country as an Ammo Specialist in the Army during the Korean War. Leonard enjoyed his work at Marsh Creek, where he handled construction and maintenance. His passions included model cars, woodworking, and collecting stamps. Leonard was very involved with the Big Brothers of Chester County. He helped to get the program organized and later became a Big Brother and had many enjoyable camping trips with his little brother. Leonard also liked boating in the Chesapeake Bay. He was a pioneer resident at Maris Grove and was the cameraman for the Maris Grove television program. Leonard would work the camera while his loving wife, Mary Ann, would report the news. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Richard Starkey, who passed in 2014, and his two sisters; Delores and June. Leonard is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Starkey, his son Michael and wife Tara Starkey, his grandson Kyle Starkey and great granddaughter, Kylie Lou.
