Obituary of John Timothy Haigh

John T. Haigh, age 88, died Oct. 2 at home in Chadds Ford, PA.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, he previously lived in Wilmington, Del., for 55 years. A graduate of West Catholic High School, he had attended St. Joseph's University, both in Philadelphia.

An Army veteran of the Korean War, he received the National Defense Service, Korean Service and the United Nations Service medals.

John was a draftsman for the Hercules in Wilmington for over 25 years. He previously taught CAD drawing at Delaware Technical University.

He was a member of the Church of the Holy Child and VFW Post 5447, both in Wilmington.

An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren's games. He was known for fixing things, loved playing basketball, swimming, traveling and sailing. John enjoyed many summers with his family at their home in Ocean City, MD. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph and Ellen Mulvihill Haigh, his five sisters, Mary Conlan, Betty Lyons, Ellen Hunt, Emma Haigh, Joan Haigh, brother Dominick, and son-in-law, Michael P. Hurley. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Conick Haigh; two daughters, Anne M. Hurley and Kathleen K. Haigh, son, John J. Haigh, grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Hurley, Matthew Hurley, Ryan Hurley, Julianne Hurley, J.T. Haigh and Katie Haigh, and great-grandson, Connor Haigh. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 10-11AM at the Church of Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11AM.
