Obituary of Norma S. Nelson

Norma S. Nelson, age 95, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away on August 30, 2021 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born in Pittsburg, KS, Norma was a resident of the Maris Grove Community in Glen Mills, previously residing in West Islip, NY. She graduated with a master's degree from Columbia University and had a long career as a librarian. Norma was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Huntington Station, NY. She enjoyed genealogy, reading, needlework, and photography. In addition to her parents, William and Edna Seifert Schnackenberg, Norma is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Nils Nelson, who passed in 2000. She is survived by her four beloved children; Jeanette (Barrett) Clay, John (JoAnn) Nelson, Barbara (Richard) Cassels, and Kristin (Salem Abboud) Nelson, two siblings; Marilyn Bitting and Roger (Nadine) Schnackenberg, and three cherished grandchildren; Kaitlin (Jaison) Varughese, Devin (Allie Hoeltzel) Cassels, and Camden Cassels. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 3 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Maris Grove Chapel, 200 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY.
