Obituary of Robert R. Burns

Robert R Burns, age 93 of Middletown Twp., PA died on August 24, 2016. Born to the late Raymond & Alice (Haigh) Burns in Philadelphia, he was a lifelong resident of Delaware and New Castle Counties. Mr. Burns, a graduate of Media High School and the Penn Wharton School, was a data processing manager at the Scott Paper Co. where he worked most of his career. He was devoted to his Christian faith and a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, serving his church as an Ordained Elder, financial secretary and treasurer. He was a member of DPMA (past president) and SABR. He was also a stockholder of the Baltimore Orioles. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Robert S. Burns. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ethel M. (Tipton) Burns, 4 children: Joanne (Edwin) Truitt, Gail Lecher, Raymond (Lynn) Burns, and Ronald (Lisa) Burns, 9 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 16, at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1120 Darley Rd., Wilm., DE 19810. Interment was held privately.
