Obituary of William Carlton Manley Jr.
William "Bill" Carlton Manley, Jr., age 81 of Chadds Ford, PA passed away on May 26, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born to William Carlton Manley, Sr. and Ruth E. Brown Manley, in West Chester, PA, he was a life-long resident of Concordville, PA. William was a mechanic and worked for the Garnet Valley School District in their building maintenance department where he retired in 2007. He always said he could "fix anything, but a broken heart." He was devoted to his faith where he attended Siloam United Methodist Church and Elam United Methodist Church. William was also a member of the Concordville Fire Company, joining when he was 15 years old. He was instrumental in bringing Fire Safety to area schools. The children referred to him as "Fireman Bill", but others knew him as "Big Bill from Concordville." A lover of classic rock music, William always had a positive outlook on life. He was very personable and loved to help others, especially the kids in his school. A true family man, William was a devoted and loving Dad, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He and his wife, Pattie, were the true definition of LOVE. They were inseparable and quite the dynamic duo. In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by his sister, Anna May Cooper. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Sullivan Manley, daughters; Laurie (Gene) Kelly and Terry Manley, his brother, Aubrey Manley, grandchildren; Jack and Maggie Kelly, and Goddaughter, Ashley (Bob) Driscoll, as well as great nieces, Taylor and Kate and great nephew, Chase Driscoll. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 9-10:30AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd. Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30AM. Interment, Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations in William's memory may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital (stjude.org/donate).
