Obituary of Bernice Marie Miller

Bernice Marie Miller (nee Sala), age 87 of Glen Mills, PA passed away on April 27, 2021 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born and raised on her family farm in Hollsopple, PA, she resided in Aston, PA for 45 years before moving to the Maris Grove community in 2009. She graduated from Conemaugh Twp. Area High School in 1952. After high school, Bernice worked as a secretary and telephone operator. She was a member of Mount Hope United Methodist Church in Aston, PA and a former member of Stahl Mennonite Church in Soap Hollow, PA. She loved bowling, ceramics and family gatherings. She was devoted to her family, was an excellent cook and was known for her desserts. Bernice loved attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events as well as Penn State home football games. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, Ammon, Sr. and Emma Mishler Sala, her stepmother, Carrie Thomas Sala, who raised Bernice since the age of 4, sister, Emma Beatrice, and brothers Robert, Ammon, Jr., and David. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Paul J. Miller. Three children; Alan Miller (Marilyn) of Downingtown, PA, Barbara Uba (Tom) of Lewes, DE, and Christine Layer (Tim) of Thornton, PA. Five grandchildren; Megan (Sean), Ben (Christine), Shannon, Erin and Shane. Two great grandchildren; Riley and Everett. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 9-10:30AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA. Service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family is encouraging memorial gifts, in memory of Bernice, be made to the charitable funds at Maris Grove. Checks can be made to Maris Grove Scholars' Fund or Maris Grove Resident Care Fund, and mailed to "Maris Grove Office of Philanthropy, 200 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA 19342."
