Arthur or "Arty" as he was known to me, hired me by reading a sign I put up in an A&P in Ossining.
On a whim I wrote a somewhat fictitious resume claiming I was a graduate student looking to work with an individual investor for experience only. This was on one of those yellow cards you put up on the A&P bulletin board if you want to hire a kid to cut your lawn. Arty called me the very next day and invited me to his house for an interview. He saw right through my graduate claim but didn't seem to mind. Maybe he admired the courage that scared 23 year old kid was showing. He handed me a card with an address and said be there Monday at 9 and wear a tie. It was the floor of the American Stock Exchange. What an amazing gesture that led to a career and memories I will always cherish because of what that man did for me.
If by chance anyone from the family reads this I would love to have a quick chat to express my gratitude.
My sincerest condolences and respect
