Obituary of Edward S Maher, Jr.

Edward S. "Edsel" Maher, Jr., age 62 of Oxford, PA passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at his home with his family by his side..  Born and raised in Chester, PA; a son of Frances and Edward S. Maher, Sr, he had resided in Oxford for the past 25 years, previously residing in Upland, PA.  He was a graduate of St. James High School, Class of 1977, where he was an accomplished wrestler throughout his 4 years, starting on their inaugural team his freshman year. Edsel was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was a heavy equipment and truck mechanic for over 30 years. Edsel and his wife, Debbie, were high school sweethearts who married and had 43 years of marriage. Edsel was a devoted husband, father and poppop and loved spending time with his family.   Edsel enjoyed fishing, camping, throwing horseshoes, shooting pool and playing poker.  He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah L. Maher; his four children, Edward S. (Sharon L. Shipman) Maher, III, Melissa G. (BJ Barlow) Maher, Michael Z. (Cheyenne) Maher and Joshua D. Maher; five grandchildren, plus one expected in October, Alyssa, RJ, Julia, Adaline, and Michael, Jr.; eight siblings, Helen (Bob) Ruger, Nadine (Paul) Scarpato, Rowena (Jim) Thompson, Francine (Mike) Glackin, Frank (Danielle Robinson) Maher, Sharon (Wayne) Sebelist, Robert (Sarah Park) Maher and William (Maureen) Maher, as well as many nephews and nieces that he cherished. A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 25, 10-11AM, at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA, followed by an 11AM Funeral Liturgy. Interment will be private.
