Dear Sandy and Hoffman Family:
Gene and i were cousins and when the family lived on Potter street we were just a block away. We were the same age so we went to Grade and High School together.
I have many fond memories of Gene and the Hoffman family especially his Mom and how she would drive us all over the place.
A couple of fond memories of mine are: going ice skating at Ridley Lake, Gene was a lot better skater than me. Shoveling snow for hours at the Knights of Columbus home. Taking my parents and brother Mike to one of his Sunday Italian dinners. My wife Lois and I were one of the first of our group to marry and we invited Gene to a family picnic, at that time he was selling Fuller Brush products and he cleaned everything in the house as he demonstrated the cleaning products.
I also remember his first car, a red Ford Falcon which he was very proud of. He told me a story that when he saw a fire truck going on a call, he would turn on his headlights and follow them.
What a friend, guy, dad and father.
RIP my friend and cousin.
