Obituary of James P. O'Keefe
James P. O'Keefe, age 90 of the Maris Grove Community, Glen Mills, PA., quietly passed away at home on October 27, 2020. Born in New York City, he resided for the past 6 years in Glen Mills, PA, previously residing in Ocean Pines, MD and Denarest, NJ. Jim was the son of the late John and Nora Keating O'Keefe. Upon graduating from NYC High School at age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy (1947-1952). After training, he was assigned to VP-26 (a squadron on nine four-engine patrol aircraft) as an A/E electrician, based in Morocco, Africa. He also was trained to fly light single engine aircraft. After the Navy, he did night work as an aviation electrician for Lockheed Air at Idlewild (now JFK). By day he attended City College of New York (CCNY) earning a BS degree. He went on to attain an MBA in Management from Pace College. Jim was a sales manager of Specialty Lighting with Sylvania/GTE for 26 years. After taking early retirement, he opened his own company distributing specialty lighting products worldwide. Upon the sale of O'Keefe Sales and Marketing, he and his wife Lynn traveled extensively, enjoying a well-earned retirement. He is survived by his second wife of 32 years, Lynn O'Keefe, his daughter Cynthia O'Keefe, his son Gary O'Keefe, and grandchildren Samantha O'Keefe and Zachary O'Keefe, as well as his sister Anne Villanueva. He is predeceased by his brother, John O'Keefe, who served in the Korean War. Interment services are private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
