Obituary of Mary E. Derickson

Mary E. Derickson, age 95, of Chadds Ford, PA passed away on February 28, 2020 at Crozer Medical Center. Born in Pennsbury Twp., Mary was a resident of Delaware County for over 70 years. She was an active member of Elam United Methodist Church where she helped with the funeral luncheons and, in her earlier years, was a member of the several women's groups. Mary was also employed as a cafeteria worker in the Garnet Valley School District. However, her biggest joy in life was being a homemaker and raising her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always willing to help out her family. She loved socializing with her friends and attending family gatherings. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Emma Rigby Powell, her husband, William J. Derickson, and her 3 siblings. She is survived by her 3 children, Nancy (Joseph) Haldeman, Joseph Derickson and James Derickson, 2 grandchildren, Jon (Andrea) Haldeman and Karen Haldeman, and 3 great grandchildren, Kailey Haldeman, Derek Haldeman and Jillian Graboski. A visitation will be held on Wednesday March 4th, 9:30-11AM at Elam United Methodist Church, 1073 Smithbridge Road, Glen Mills, PA followed by funeral services at 11AM. Interment will be held privately at Chester Bethel Cemetery, Wilmington, DE. Donations in her memory may be made to Elam United Methodist Church.
