Obituary of Richard Walter Spigel

Richard Walter Spigel, 77 of Wilmington, DE (previously Springfield, PA) passed away on June 14, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, PA, and raised in Lansdowne, Richard was in the first graduating class of Bonner High School in 1957. After attending Penn State and St. Josephs University, he was in the financial business for over 25 years and then started his own business, Walt Richards Builders in 1986. He was the President of CCD for St. Kevin's Church in the 1980's. A truly jovial host, Richard and his wife Loretta encouraged large friendly gatherings, where his big heart and kind soul made old friends and new acquaintances equally welcome. Although he was a tireless worker, Richard also made time for traveling internationally and gathering with loved ones. He had a great passion for playing cards and talking sports with lifelong friends. He will be forever missed as a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Richard is survived by his wife, Loretta, of 49 years, his children Stephen (Marilyn), Michelle(Michael), Constance, (Tim), Rachel (Dan) and grandchildren Aidan, Jesse, Jason and Lauren. Relatives and friends are invited to Richard's Funeral Services, Friday, 11:00AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA, where friends may call from 9:00-11:00AM. Interment will remain private at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA.
