Obituary of W. Maurice Ayers

W. Maurice Ayers, age 82 of West Chester, PA passed away suddenly on December 1, 2019 while visiting his Son and family in Seely Lake, MT. Born to Wilmer M. and Frances E. Gaul Ayers in Media, PA, raised in Concord Twp. and resided most of his life in West Chester, PA. He was a graduate of Media H.S. and a veteran of the Delaware National Guard. Maurice worked as a supervisor and retired from Boeing in Ridley Park. He was a Life Member of Concordville Fire & Protective Association for 50 years where he served as a Firefighter, Driver and Engineer. Maurice had many interests. He was an antique car buff, belonging to several car clubs including, Antique Truck Club of America, Chevrolet Vintage Club, Model A Club, and the Historical Car Club of Pennsylvania where he also served as Treasurer. He had a love for collecting model trains and built an entire model town that he enjoyed sharing with his grandchildren. He took pleasure in working on and spending time at his childhood friend's farm in Maryland. He also enjoyed riding snowmobiles with his family. His wife, Gail Ayers, who passed in March of 2019, and his first wife, Joanne Heyburn Ayers in 1984, precede him in death. Maurice is survived by 6 children; Dawn Pinghera, Jennifer Dubbs (Dan), Frank Wiechecki, Brenda Ayers, Jason Ayers (Karen), and Tricia Jones (Dave), brothers; Howard and Steven Ayers, uncle Robert Ayers, and 10 grandchildren; Christina, Samantha, Fritz, Jonathan, Becca, Kylie, Hannah, Sam, Lucie and Ludo. Visitation is Monday, Dec. 9 from 9:30-11AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by a Funeral Service at 11AM. Interment at Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory may be made to Honor Flight (www.honorflight.org) or to Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (www.fallenheroesfund.org).
