Obituary of Aaron S. Pogue

Aaron S. Pogue, age 45, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on October 18, 2019, at Christiana Hospital. Born in Nashville, TN, where he became a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, and raised in Gaithersburg, MD, Aaron resided for the past 20 years in Wilmington, DE, previously residing in Newark, DE and Gaithersburg, MD. A bartender and manager, Aaron was currently employed at Culinaria Restaurant in Wilmington for the past 13 years. He graduated from Gaithersburg High School, class of 1992 and then earned his bachelor's degree in History from the University of Delaware. Aaron is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 8 years - together for 14 - Jaime M. Frawley Pogue, 3 sons, Wyatt, 7, Elias, 5, and River Pogue, 2, parents, Beverlie Moon Pogue and Scott Pogue, sister and best friend, Sarah Pogue, and half-brother, Boone Pogue, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Aaron was an extraordinary individual. His razor sharp wit and dry sense of humor made Aaron who he was, along with his empathetic heart, baby blue eyes, creative mind, and his devotion to his family. The only thing Aaron ever wanted in this life was a family of his own - to be a father. To be a good father. And he was the best. There are no words to adequately portray the love he had for his boys. They were his purpose...they were his reason. Aaron never cared about fame or fortune, only wanting to be present for his sons-to teach them, to guide them, to provide for them. Aaron never took one single second for granted. From school drop-off, to story time at the library, to swim lessons at the YMCA, to teaching the boys how to read and ride a bike, to cutting and styling their hair, and to snow tubing after a big snowstorm....he was involved in every facet of their lives, from dawn until dusk.

Aaron loved food—known for his insatiable appetite, and unbelievable metabolism, from fast-food to gourmet. And nothing made Aaron happier than the family's yearly escape to OBX. Aaron would spend countless hours jumping waves with the boys, digging in the sand, splashing in the pool, and eating bbq. It was here where he was most at peace - surrounded by the ones he loved the most, he was carefree.

Aaron achieved everything he set out to do in this life....and left this world far too soon. In death, he saved several lives. Aaron died a hero.
