Obituary of John Homa

John Homa Jr., age 93, passed away at his home in Glen Mills, PA on October 20, 2019. Born and raised in St. Clair, PA, he resided in Claymont, DE for 36 years before residing in the Maris Grove community in Glen Mills for over 10 years. John served his country in the Navy during WWII, earning the American Theatre Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was also a welder for DuPont for over 25 years, retiring in 1985. After retirement, John worked as a mail clerk for Delaware Trust Bank for 4 years. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Veteran's Club at Maris Grove. He enjoyed woodworking, college football, golfing, camping and sitting on his daughter Linda's back porch. John is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Rosemarie I. Pangaro Homa, who passed in 1992, 3 siblings, Eleanor Homa, Dorothy Ward and Rev. Thomas D. Homa and his parents, John Homa Sr. and Catherine (Serock) Homa. He is survived by 3 children, Linda (Mel) Brown, John J. (Arlene) Homa III and Robert (Jodi) Homa, brother, Edward Homa, 9 grandchildren, Lauren (David) Everett, Michael (Heather) Brown, Catherine (Jason) Vander Duim, John (Megan) Homa IV, Jennifer Sorrentino, Maria (Brandon) Lehr, Rachel (Danio) O'Hara, Melissa (Shane) Loomis and Shannon Homa, step-granddaughter, Marah Hoffman, 5 great grandchildren, John Homa, John Sorrentino, Christopher Homa, Corinne O'Hara and Maren O'Hara and former daughter-in-law, Debra Homa. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 9:15-10:15AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 430 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills, PA, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM. Interment will take place at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery @ 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association (diabetes.org).
