Obituary of John L. Santangelo

John L. Santangelo, Jr., age 58 of Chadds Ford, PA died suddenly on May 25, 2016. Son of John and Joan (Mollenhauer) Santangelo, he was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Lansdowne, PA. John is survived by his wife of 29 years Janice (Rakszawski) Santangelo, sons: Christopher and Stephen, daughters: Laura and Kate, sisters: Mary Santangelo, Teresa Kozempel, and Barbara Bunda (Cyril), brothers: Paul (Tina), Mark (Bethann), Anthony (Jennifer), and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, the late Sergeant Charles Robert Santangelo U.S.M.C. Previously of Springfield, PA, John has resided in Chadds Ford, PA for the past 21 years. He graduated from Lansdowne-Aldan High School in 1975. John graduated from LaSalle University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and in 1997 with a Master of Business Administration degree. John met Janice while at LaSalle, and the two married in 1986. John worked for DuPont for the past 26 years specializing in corporate tax. He was a highly valued employee, leader, and mentor who performed his job with a smile every day. John was a devoted, loving husband and father who was heavily involved in all of his children’s activities. His wife and children remember him as a dedicated, kind, caring father and husband who always supported them. John was very active in coaching his children’s hockey, baseball, soccer, and softball teams, and was involved with the Boy Scouts for many years. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and Flyers. John enjoyed Halloween and the Christmas season most of all. He always looked forward to carving the pumpkins, decorating the house, and putting up the tree with his wife and children. John spent many years vacationing in Ocean City, NJ with his loving family. He couldn’t go a day without his Wawa coffee. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing scheduled for 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday, May 31 at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley PA. An additional visitation will be held Wednesday, June 1 from 8:30-9:45 AM at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford, PA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment, St. Thomas the Apostle Church Cemetery, 430 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills, PA. In lieu of flowers, gifts to support the current and future needs of John’s family in the wake of this tragic loss are appreciated.
