Obituary of Mary Ann Irelan

Mary Ann Irelan, age 85, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on February 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at home after a brief battle with cancer. Born and raised in Bethlehem, PA, she has resided in Wilmington since 1964. A graduate of Seton Hall University, Mary Ann taught 2nd grade at IHM Elementary School. She also at one time worked at the YMCA. An active woman, she volunteered at A.I. Dupont Children's Hospital and also the Friendship House. In addition to her parents, Jerry and Grace Oliver DeFulvio, Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Irelan, son, Ricky Irelan, both who died in 1989, and a brother, Eugene DeFulvio. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Robyn G. (Don) Magee, Mary Beth (Bill) Stinger and Joy (Keith) Irelan Stockton, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, from 10-11AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE. Interment will remain private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to be made to the donor's favorite charity.
