Obituary of Harriett Imbierowicz

Harriett Imbierowicz, age 95, of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania passed away on April 5 th,2024. Harriett was born on September 15 th, 1928, to James and Ruth Brandau Hobson. She adored her parents and often recalled happy memories from her time growing up in Salisbury, Maryland. Harriett went on to attend the University of Maryland and it was there that she caught the eye of Stan Imbierowicz. Through countless letters, their courtship endured Stan’s deployment in the Navy. They spent 36 years of marriage by each other’s side, raising their 3 children and moving from Minnesota to Martinsville, N.J., and finally to Chadds Ford. Their love endured a lifetime. Harriett enjoyed athletics, cherished the written word, and was always involved in her community. She taught English and Physical Education, served as President of the Parent Teacher Association, was a member of the Chadds Ford Womans Club, and volunteered at the Brandywine River Museum and Chadds Ford Historical Society. She valued her friendships, forming connections and camaraderie so often along the path of her long life. She traveled the world, loved telling stories, and would have stayed longer if she could have. Harriett is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Brandau Hobson, her husband, Stanley E. Imbierowicz, and sister, Joan Elzey. She is survived by her 3 children, Paul (Karen) Imbierowicz, James (Annette Hergenrother) Imbierowicz, and Carol (Tom) Sheron. Harriett was a proud grandmother to her 5 grandchildren, Anna and James Imbierowicz, and Marisa, Matthew, and Lauren Sheron. Visitation for Harriett will take place on Thursday, April 11 th,2024, from 9:45-10:45 AM at St. John’s Episcopal Church 576 Concord Road, Glen Mills, PA. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM.
