Obituary of Helen Elizabeth Smith

Helen Elizabeth "Beth"  Smith, age 73 of Wilmington, DE passed away on March 4, 2024 at Christiana Hospital. Born to John and Helen Stewart Powell in Detroit, MI. She resided for the past 33 years in Wilmington, DE, previously residing in Linwood, PA. Beth was a banker in her younger years, but predominantly a homemaker. She worked for herself as an in-home childcare provider for several years. Devoted to her faith, she was a member of United Methodist Church of Atonement in Claymont, DE. Beth was a very peaceful person and enjoyed close fellowship with others. She loved Christmas festivities, holiday decorations, and trips to the Jersey Shore and Delaware Beaches. She loved going on long car rides and out to lunch and dinner with friends and family. Beth was born to be a mother and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her four grandsons. Beth is preceded in death by her parents and she is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, James Smith, son, Steven Smith, daughter, Shelley (Matthew) Grandel, brother, John Powell, sister, Mary Komar, and grandchildren; Isaac, Adam, Ethan, and Matthew.  Funeral Services will be private.
