Obituary of Joseph Blomgren

Joseph Howard Blomgren, age 84, formerly of Garnet Valley, PA passed away suddenly on February 23, 2024 at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital in New Jersey.  Known as Howard,  he was born, raised and educated in S.W. Philadelphia.  After graduating from John Bartram High School in 1957, Howard entered the Army proudly serving his country for six years. After the service,  he became a Union Electrician for 30 years retiring in 1989. Howard was a longtime resident of Garnet Valley, PA where he and his wife raised their family. In addition to his electrical career, Howard also operated his own Electrical Supply business, Junk Yard business as well as a Seafood business, all while his wife Jerri, ran her childcare business. Howard was a member of the Ogden American Legion, Post 951 and enjoyed playing Shuffleboard every Saturday alongside his wife.  He also had a passion for muscle cars, caring for his garden, his farm and restoring antique tractors. His specialty was farm engines,  specifically "Hit & Miss Engines". In his early years,  Howard enjoyed hunting. In addition to his parents, Axel Olaf and Anna Kirkpatrick Blomgren, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jeraldine "Jerri" Blomgren who died in 2018 and 5 siblings, Ralph (Marylou) Blomgren, Albert (Hannah) Blomgren, David (Margaret) Blomgren, Edith (Herbert) Fritz, and Richard (Bettylou) Blomgren. Howard is survived by 3 children, Maureen Blomgren, Patrick (Shaida) Blomgren and Laura Blomgren,  a sister, Anna DiVito, 2 grandchildren, Kamron and Meela Blomgren and a companion, Sis Marra. A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 29th from 10-11AM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA followed by Military Services at 11AM.  Interment will remain private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Howard's name may be made to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption (https://support.davethomasfoundation.org).
