Obituary of Norman Frank McGhee

Norman Frank McGhee, 71 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024 after a brief illness. Norman was born in 1952 in Chester, PA to Elbert and Sarah McGhee. In February 1973 he married the love of his life, Robin Smith. Norm was employed by General Chemical for over 30 years and was then employed by DuPont Chambers Works until his retirement in 2015.

"Stormin" Norman was a long-time member of the DuPont Country Club where he enjoyed golfing with friends. Norm loved to arrange trips for and travel with family and friends. He especially liked the tropical weather and enjoyed snorkeling, whale watching, and beautiful views and sunsets. His favorite destination was Maui, where he and Robin vacationed last year. At home, he could often be found with his "baby" Roxy, driving or working on his Corvette, or watching Philadelphia sports, especially the Eagles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Robin McGhee, his sister, Joanne (Franklin) Harris, his mother-in-law, Shirley Smith, brother-in-law, Jim (Joanmarie) Smith, and sister-in-law Cheryl (Bobby) Smith. He is also survived by his nephew, Brandon (Brittany) Smith, and niece Brandy Beauchamp, both of whom he had a special relationship, dearly loved nieces, Jocelyn (Matt) Haack, Jenna Smith, Jessica Smith, Debbie Scheet, Kimberly (Eric) Gould, and Sara (Rob) Dygert, as well as many other family and friends. Norm was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Chester and William McGhee, sisters, Mildred O'Hara and Mamie Pitts, his father-in-law, Wilfred J. Smith, Sr., his nephew, Walter Wood, and his beloved Roxy.

Norm was a loving, caring, devoted, thoughtful husband and friend, never hesitating to lend a helping hand when he saw a need. We were blessed by his life and he will be missed by all.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 11:00-12:00PM at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Garnet Valley, PA, followed by a 12:00 PM Memorial Service. Interment will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to either Providence Animal Shelter (providenceac.org) or Restoration Presbyterian Church at 2655 Chichester Ave, Boothwyn, PA 19061.
