Obituary of Patricia M Hope

Patricia M. Hope, of Glen Mills, PA Retired Executive Assistant, tavern owner, wife, mother and grandmother. Pat passed away at home on October 15, 2023, at the age of 79 with family by her side. Born in July, 1944, Pat grew up in Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in South Philly and graduated from Maria Goretti High School. Pat made lifelong friends among the "Goretti Girls" who stood by her side through the years, even when she moved all the way to Southwest Philly. Pat worked several jobs throughout her life. She felt most fulfilled while devoting over 20 years working with the sisters at the Society of the Holy Child Jesus in Rosemont, PA. Her job at SHCJ brought her into friendship with many of the sisters and others devoting their time to her beloved Catholic faith. In 1980, Pat and her husband Joe opened the Manoa Tavern, a neighborhood sports bar in Havertown. Years of hard work, long days and loyal customers transformed the tavern into a local favorite. Pat and Joe met in 1959 and were married in 1966. They lived together in many, many different houses through the years and split their time in retirement between Delaware County and North Wildwood. Their wide circle of friends included many people they befriended through Joe's career in the Philadelphia Fire Department. After her husband Joe passed away in 2020, Pat cherished the time she had with her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. In addition to her husband Joseph Hope, she was predeceased by her sisters Margaret Bradley, Joan Mullen and Kathleen Roach. Pat is survived by her brother Leo Roach; her children Joseph (Melissa), David and Michael (Maria), and grandchildren Zachary, Caitlyn, Allison, Carly, Kevin, Caleigh, Sarah and Ethan Hope, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, October 24 from 6-8pm at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd., Garnet Valley, PA and an additional viewing will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, PA on Wednesday, October 25 from 9:30-10:15am followed by a 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial.
