Obituary of Helen Cortez

Helen M. Cortez (nee Janis), age 90, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA., Helen was a seamstress for many years before retiring. She was a faith-filled woman who enjoyed church, crocheting and word puzzles and upon retirement, going to the casino, playing bingo, and traveling to Europe. Helen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stephanie Janis (nee Sedlak). Helen is preceded in death by her loving sisters; Anna Janis and Joan Ewing. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Janis, niece Lisa Grostas (Joseph) and nephew John Ewing (Christine), in addition to great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.
