Arline Vivian Kaniefski, age 93, of Media, PA passed away on September 30, 2023 at Riddle Village. Born to Lester and Mary (nee Brackbill) Hersh, she was raised in Darby, PA and graduated from Darby High School, class of 1948. Arline has resided in Media, PA since 1999. She previously resided in Thornbury and Aston, PA. A highlight of her high school years was the summer she spent at the Jersey shore in Cape May, working as a waitress. After high school, Arline worked as a secretary for General Electric in Philadelphia from 1948-1956. In 1956, she married Walter J. Kaniefski and they raised their family in Aston, PA. She then worked with her husband running/operating the Kaniefski Funeral Home. Arline had vacation homes in Elkton, MD on the Elk River and, subsequently, in Ocean City, NJ on the beach. She loved spending time in Ocean City with her many friends and extended family. Even in the winter, she loved to walk on the beach and watch the ocean. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Kaniefski, who died in 2019. Arline is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Hersh and partner Robert Specht, 2 sons, Walter Kaniefski, Jr., MD and wife Gloria Quilio, and Paul Kaniefski and wife, Beth, and 6 grandchildren: Alexandra Durand and Calvin Mingione; Christiana and James Kaniefski; and Kent and Kara Kaniefski.
