Obituary of Nancy R. McCoy

Nancy R. McCoy, age 76 of Kennett Square, PA passed away on September 25, 2023, at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Born in Chester PA to Frank & Eleanor Carpenter Starr, she graduated in 1965 from Chichester High School. Nancy met and married her husband, Blair, in 1967 and spent the first 34 of their 55-year marriage on Naaman's Creek Road where they raised their 3 daughters. In the 1970's, as a young mom, Nancy defied the odds and went back to school to pursue her dream of becoming an educator. She was employed as a teacher for the Chichester School District where she taught Science and Math to both the High School and Middle School students. In 2001, Nancy and Blair moved to Kennett Square where they made many friends in the Traditions at Longwood. For the past 8 years, Nancy and her husband were snowbirds in the Villages in Florida and made wonderful memories and friends.

As a recreational golfer, she spent countless hours perfecting her swing while socializing and providing comic relief for those who might have taken the game too seriously. For the past 25 years, her favorite time of the year was the family vacations spent in Sea Isle City. She loved spoiling her grand and great-grandchildren and could often be found cheering them on at their various sporting events and school activities. She developed an intense love of travel, where she and Blair visited every continent except Asia. They visited Australia, New Zealand, five countries in Africa, five in South America, seven countries in Europe, and most of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. She loved hanging out with friends in the Traditions Book Club, Chi Girls, PEO Organization, playing mahjong and cards in both Pennsylvania and Florida, and watching Crime Dramas with her daughters.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Blair McCoy Jr. who died in 2022. Nancy is survived by 3 daughters, Darlene (Scott) Bailey, Wendy (Scott) Burnham & Jennifer (Tony) Rapposelli, 7 grandchildren, Bryan (Sara), Joshua (Taylor), Eryn, Gianna, Anthony "A.J.", Austin & Kimberly, 3 great grandchildren, Charlotte, Caleb & Caysen, and 3 siblings, Keith (Christine) Starr, Mark Starr & Frank Starr,Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ballrooms at Boothwyn, Monday, October 2nd, 2023 with visitation from 4:30 pm – 6pm with a buffet dinner beginning at 5:30 pm. We will have time at 6pm for anyone who wishes to share memories and stories.
