Obituary of Dorothy R. Henderson

Dorothy Rose Henderson, age 93, passed away on January 1, 2023 (5 days before her 94th birthday) at Gilpin Hall in Wilmington, DE. Born in Chester, PA to G. Flemon & Rose Rowe VanLandingham, Dot was raised in Ridley Park and attended Chester High School. She was a longtime resident of Linwood, PA, previously residing in the Lennox Park section of Trainer, PA. Devoted to raising her family and caring for her home, Dot was also a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone where she once was voted "The Voice with a Smile". She also worked at Ship & Shore, Stubnitz Springs & the Wilmington Dry Goods just to name a few. Devoted to her faith, Dot attended church weekly at the former Resurrection Catholic Church and the former Holy Saviour Catholic Church. Dot loved music, arts & crafts, crocheting and singing. She and her husband Art enjoyed dancing to big band music. In her later years, Dot enjoyed visiting Pot-Nets with her Sister-in-Law, Betty Marvian. She loved animals especially her little dog, Lady. Chatty with a playful sense of humor, Dot was an avid fixer-upper and do it-yourselfer. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur A. Henderson Sr. who died in 1989, a daughter, Patricia Muzikar, a granddaughter, Katy Marie Henderson and 4 siblings, Ellsworth & J. Russell VanLandingham, Frances James & Doris Watson. Dot is survived by 2 children, Arthur Alan Henderson Jr., & Celia (John) Evans, grandchildren: Geoffrey (Stephanie) Henderson, Rosanne (Eric) Wagner, Timothy Henderson, Jack (Bo) Evans & Emily Evans, and 1 great granddaughter, Aurora Wagner. A visitation will be held on January 10, Tuesday from 9:15-10:15AM at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 4225 Chichester Ave., Boothwyn, PA followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM.
