Obituary of Charles J. Cantler
Charles J. Cantler, age 90, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home on August 28, 2026.
Charles was a longtime employee at Pratt & Whitney and was a Maintenance Electrician. He was a member of the VFW. Charles was an active member of Midway Assembly of God Church for 30 years serving on the board for many of those years. He also was was active teaching and volunteering in m any areas of the church. As a veteran serving his country, he was in the Navy Reserves for 40 years.
In addition to his parents, Charles and Florence Gagnon Cantler, he is preceded in death by his wife, Perla Allen Cantler, who passed in 2024, a brother, Robert Cantler, 2 sisters, Betty Jane Ventura, Margaret DiBonis, stepchildren, Vernon Ridgley and Penny Young.
He is survived by his daughter, Charlie (Larry) Duke, brother Milton Cantler, stepchildren, Preston (Barbara) Ridgley, Mary Ann Ridgley, Donna (Joe) DiMarco, William (Debbie) Stone, Bobby (Ray) McClinton, Rita (Glenn) Carter, Linda (Gary) Quernemoen, and Rose (Tony) Oteri, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3rd, from 10-11AM at Midway Assembly of God, 34677 Old Postal Lane, Lewes, Delaware followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM. Burial will be held the following day, Friday, 10:00AM sharp, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware.
